ENDO & COMPANY NOTICE ON THE COVID-19 ALIAS CORONA VIRUS.

As the world is at a critical point in the global fight against the outbreak COVID-19, famed as the corona virus, everyone should get involved in this massive fight against this common enemy to keep the world safe from its aftermaths.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General said that, “We are immensely grateful to the UN Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation for coming forward to help us set up this fund. A lot of people and institutions have been saying they want to contribute to the fight against the novel coronavirus. The corona virus has taken the world by storm with presently being active in Africa in countries such as Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda and the United Republic of Tanzania.

On 16th March 2020, the Government of the Republic of Tanzania through its minister,for Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Hon Ummy Mwalimu through a press release, declared COVID-19 (corona) to have entered in the United Republic, and with the aid of regulation 46 of the Public Health Regulation (Sanitization and Hygiene Practices), 2012) that, the government established some measures that would help mitigate the spread of the virus, including but not limited to; coordinating with the World Health Organization, advising citizens to; avoid shaking hands, hugging, touching the nose, mouth or the eyes, sanitizer dispensers to be put in places of gatherings such as hospitals, markets, stadiums, individuals to wash their hands with chlorine who enter game reserves whether tourists or not, provision of information to any health institution on individuals showing signs of the COVID-19 infection.

We, at ENDO & Company Advocates understand the seriousness of the COVID-19 (corona virus) outbreak and the counter-measures the government coordinating with various branches and private organizations, such as hospitals, schools, ports, medias and citizens at large in the United Republic of Tanzania with which also, the World at large has taken the issue of COVID-19 as pandemic and appreciates the need to combat against the spread of the virus especially at a workplace.

And thus, in this regard, and to contain the spread of the virus as well as ensuring continuity of its business operations, ARIPO:

  • Informs the users that the Office remains operational;
  • Advises users to continue taking advantage of its 24-hour online services to file applications and make online payments; and
  • Discourages walk-in enquiries andurges users to make enquiries by email and telephone during its operating hours which remain unchanged.

The ARIPO offices will continue to closely follow the situation in consultation with the relevant international bodies and authorities in the host country, Zimbabwe, and is committed to ensuring that work and cooperationcontinue during this time.

The African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO),is an intergovernmental Organization that grants and administers Intellectual Property (IP) titles on behalf of its Member States and provides IP information to its clientele in the form of search services, publications and awareness creation. Membership of the organisation is open to all Member States of the African Union (AU) or of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
